DeviantART: Death and Taxes

June 24th, 2006 · No Comments

death and taxes posterThe image at left is a thumbnail view of a magnificent poster that shows where all of our tax money was spent in 2004. The full-sized poster, titled “Death and Taxes,” was created by mibi and hosted on the DeviantART site.

The actual poster page is located here, with a larger thumbnail view plus a button to zoom into the full-size image which is a hefty 3,500 x 2,333 pixels! The organization of data is superb and beautifully accentuated with official government badges wherever possible.

One person who commented about this artowrk on mibi’s site said, “it’s amazing. not just because i’ve seen this piece from begining to end. but because of all the extensive detail you went into. the information you researched, it was more of a “project” then piece. as is most of your work.

I am frankly amazed and grateful for the time and energy mibi spent creating this important work; important not just for it’s beauty but also for the important truth it captures. Oh, and a year 2007 version is already in the works; I can’t wait to see that one! Of this piece, mibi writes:

Death and Taxes: A visual look at where your tax dollars go.

Most people are unaware of how much of their taxes fund our military, and those aware are often misinformed. Well here it is. Laid out, easy to read and compare. With data straight from the White House.

I hope this makes people think and ask questions.

Enjoy! And please share this with everyone you know who may be remotely interested in such things (whether art, taxes or both!).
