Google’s holiday logos - a brief history

google gThis morning I went to Google to start my Memorial’s Day with a few searches. I was expecting to see Goggle’s logo decorated somehow in recognition of Memorial Day but it wasn’t. At first I thought that was odd but then I couldn’t remember whether they’d ever decorated their logo on Memorial Day so… I Google’d their holiday logos page and had a look.

It turns out that Google has been decorating their logo in recognition of various holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, celestial events, etc., American and otherwise, since 1999 but… never have they decorated Memorial Day.

I suppose it’s just some kind of politically-correct non-participation on their part but, still, I was unpleasantly surprised to learn of their unwillingness to acknowledge American loss of life in conflict.

I realize that not every conflict that America has participated in has been a worthy cause in some people’s estimation. My goal here isn’t to justify every, or even any particular, conflict. My goal is to recognize the sacrifices of individual people who, in service to their government and country, gave their lives to defend what they believed, at the time, might be at risk: our liberty, sovereignty and posterity.

Therefore, in my own act of remembrance, reverence and dedication to all the men and women who lost their lives in military service to this nation, I have hand-compiled all of Google’s holiday logo occurrances into a table, sorted in rough chronological order, for your convenience. Perhaps if enough of us share our thoughts about Google standing strong for the sacrifices of its nation’s military, they will take a less politically-safe position and actually stand for something.

Happy Memorial Day, and thank you for caring:

Perhaps Google just choses to focus on holidays that are more international in scope?

And by the way, you might be interested to know that the doodles are proof-positive that Google hates Christmas and has a liberal agenda.

P.S. (Did you get my email this morning?)

The same Google, that caved in to Mainland China’s demands to remove its pictures of tanks and carnage (Tiananmen Square, remember), in its Chinese version,(google.cn) has no respect for fallen Americans… Whether one agrees with the present war or vehemently disagrees, those who fell did so while on the call of duty… A far cry from those fat cat Google execs, who are prime examples of the very corporate greed the liberal agenda is against… Funny… isn’t it?
